Erst der Anfang: EU als „Elitenprojekt“ gefährdet

Europa befindet sich gefangen in einer Politik, die auf „Alternativlosigkeit“ setzt und darauf hofft, dass die Bevölkerungen nicht verstehen, was passiert oder aber ein Wunder geschieht und alles noch rettet.

Da sei erinnert an Abraham Lincoln: „You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.“ Wie sehr das stimmt, sieht man hier.

Zunächst die Frage, ob man denn gerne wie die Briten einmal über die Zugehörigkeit des eigenen Landes zur EU abstimmen würde. Das sieht auf den ersten Blick noch ganz entspannt aus:

60 Prozent der Deutschen beispielsweise wollen darüber gar nicht abstimmen – oder haben Angst, dass eine Abstimmung „schiefgehen“ könnte und wollen es deshalb nicht. Ich finde, im Prinzip sollte man über alles abstimmen dürfen. In Frankreich und Italien wollen deutlich mehr als 50 Prozent abstimmen, vermutlich, weil sie dann „Nein“ sagen können?

So scheint es zu sein. In der Tat würden in diesen Ländern weitaus mehr Leute für einen Ausstieg stimmen, als bei uns:

Italien ist schon recht nah an den 50 Prozent. Ambroise Evans-Pritchard – auf seine unnachahmliche Art: „They (bto: die Brüsseler EU-Eliten) still could not see that the EU had over-reached disastrously, or that it had breached the historical contract with Europe’s nation states, or that broader contagion was a mounting threat to their own interests.“

Und dann zu den Folgen eines Brexit: „But what most surprised me is that half of those surveyed in countries making up 80pc of the EU population think that Brexit would set off a domino effect, and that it would do more damage to the European Union than to Britain itself.“

 

„It suggests that very large numbers of people on the Continent have reached their own damning verdict on EU pieties and on the EMU construct, perhaps because they know that their own youth have been flocking to London to work, as if were a new Manhattan.“
